Jeanne Marie Kucia, of Wyandotte and Brooklyn, passed away Monday, January 11, 2021 at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital in Jackson, age 88 years. Jeanne was born in Wyandotte on June 26, 1932 to the late Edward Albert and Betty Louise (Clifton) Heins. She graduated from Wyandotte Theodore Roosevelt High School. Jeanne worked as a Medical Manager for many years at a physician's practice in Wyandotte. She and her husband, Julius "Butch" Kucia, purchased their dream lake house cottage on Wamplers Lake in Brooklyn in 1974, and created an unfathomable amount of memories, not just for them, but their family and friends as well. Jeanne will always be remembered for her strong Christian values and her sincere thankfulness to everything she had and everyone she knew. Jeanne absolutely adored and cherished all of her grandchildren and her 11 great-grandchildren! She would faithfully send holiday greeting cards to her family and friends and would make it a point to call each of them on their birthday just to sing "Happy Birthday"! Jeanne was a long-time active member of the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Wyandotte and she willingly gave countless hours to various church activities. Gathering with her friends to have lunch and often play a variety of card games were among her favorite times. Jeanne has impacted so many people's lives in lovingly positive ways and she will be dearly missed by all who had the opportunity to know and love her. Jeanne is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (Roger) Hanson of Jackson; daughter in law, Mary Kucia of Wyandotte, grandchildren, Donald (Nicole) Hanson, Michael (Amanda) Hanson, Ryan (Kristi) Kucia, Sarah (Ryan) Ash, and Beth Gettings; 11 great grandchildren, Everett, Ellie, Nolan, Madelyn, Erik, Courtney, Aubrey, Ethan, Hannah, Marissa and Luke; brother-in-law, Al Oldham; and numerous nieces, nephews, and countless special friends. Jeanne is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Julius "Butch" Kucia, her son, Terry E. Kucia, her sister, Sally Oldham, and her brother and sister in law, Jack and Barbara Heins. A time of gathering will be held on Friday, January 15, 2021 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at the Heritage Funeral Home in Southgate with a private immediate family prayer service scheduled at 4:00 PM. With the current protocols and ongoing pandemic, mandatory face coverings are required to visit at the funeral home. Cremation will take place following the prayer service. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to express their condolences may make a memorial contribution to St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Wyandotte in Jeanne's name.
