The world lost an icon. We all lost a best friend. His Family lost their world. My heart is sad and no one will ever be able to take his place, that special place that he held in the hearts of all who knew him. A true Icon that walked amongst us. My deepest and heartfelt sympathy to Janice and his Sons, and Grandchildren who he loved so much. He truly was a Mayor's Mayor.

My brother Joey was a wonderful, loving, caring and awesome person. He always made sure that everyone he came into contact with was greeted with a smile and always had something good to say. My husband, Bob and myself will miss him so much. He will forever remain in our hearts and thoughts. Never to be forgotten. Love to brother! Bob and Barbara Somerton

Thank you Mayor Joe! A life of service to family, friends, residents and to the country. You welcomed me to Wyandotte with a kindness and joy. You lived, loved, and laughed with a genuine enthusiasm for those in your presence. "Joe" stories will be endless. I'm holding on to my last "Joe Buck" as reminder of you. May your family find comfort in the knowing of your care, their tears turn to laughter in due time, their hearts beat with pride with the legacy you leave us all with. We have the watch from here.

Michele and I are heartbroken from the passing of my cousin Joe. He gave so much and expected very little back. He was deeply loved by my wife and myself and my children. Joe was always tough when he needed to be, but had a heart of gold, especially in helping others. He truly loved his family and the city of Wyandotte. I have so many memories of watching Joe grow as a kid to an outstanding adult who served so many. There are so many things that I admire Joe for, but the most is what a deep caring person he was. There are not enough words to express what Joe means to me and my family. His life was too short, but it was a life well lived. He is a Hero in many respects. My family and I send our Love, thoughts , and prayers to Janice, Joe Jr., Matt and his family and his brothers and sisters, my cousins, Paul, Debbie, Carl, Barbra, Jackie and David. We love you Joe, I will miss you greatly, and may you rest in peace in the Kingdom of God. Joe Klimas 111

Joe is going to be missed more than any of us can guess. He probably never realized how much he meant to so many. We all should take lessons from Joe. Such a down-to-earth and fun-loving kind of individual. He brought a smile the moment he entered a room. Rest in peace dear friend!

Although I do not personally have dear memories with Joe Peterson. My hometown and my beloved brother did. He’d always call him “old man Peterson”. Really going to miss seeing you at the V. A. I know you enjoyed just chatting about sports and forgetting politics for a while. Stand Down.
