Laura (Gale) Hager died peacefully in her home on March 12, 2021, after a prolonged battle with metastatic breast cancer.
Born on March 16, 1945, to Lorenzo and Violet (Conklin) Lumetta, Laura graduated from Wayne Memorial High School and earned her Bachelor of Education degree from Eastern Michigan University. Laura worked at St. Aloysius Catholic School in Romulus for 25 years, starting out as a teacher and eventually becoming the principal. Never one to sit still for too long, she had an encore career as the Associate Principal at Christ the King School in South Bend, Indiana.
Laura was a dedicated educator, a loyal friend, and a loving mother. She lived every moment of her life to the fullest and had a kind word for everyone she met. Laura enjoyed many hobbies and remained active until the end of her life.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents, Lorenzo and Violet Lumetta, and one brother-in-law, Alvin Lalonde. She is survived by her son and his wife, Christopher Gale and Stephanie Hart, her sister, Kathleen Lalonde, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Crane Funeral Home, 36885 Goddard Road, Romulus, MI 48174 on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, from 4 PM to 8 PM. There will be a recitation of the rosary at 7 PM. A funeral mass will be held at a later date.
